TITLE: Assistant Athletic Program Director

SITE: Harrington Clubhouse (Main South)

DEPARTMENT: Youth Development Professional

REPORTS TO: Athletic Program Director

JOB TYPE: Part-time

The Boys & Girls Club of Worcester seeks a part-time Athletics Program Assistant for our Harrington Clubhouse, located in the Main South Neighborhood in Worcester. This is a 25-hour-per-week. The assistant will report directly to the Director of Athletics and must be available Mondays – Fridays.  We are looking for candidates with 1 – 2 years of youth development, athletics, or related experience. Must have reliable transportation. A great entry-level position, working in a premier youth development agency, with opportunities for professional development and potential full-time career options.

PLEASE NOTE: During this unprecedented time, all program staff are currently supporting our learning hubs (8 a.m. – 4 p.m.), where kids can go to do their remote learning while schools are not open for onsite instruction. Once kids return to onsite schooling, our regular Club programming will resume.

Experience: A minimum of two years work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people. Sports management experience, preferred.

Education: High School degree (or equivalent) required

Skills/Knowledge required in the following areas:

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to complete paperwork, health surveys, pre- and post-tests by scheduled deadlines.
  • Physical ability to sit, stand, run and jump for extended times (3 hours).
  • Group leadership skills including and understanding of group dynamics.
  • Demonstrated organizational, staff and project management abilities.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications, preferred.
  • Concussion Prevention certification, preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred.

TITLE: Program Assistant

SITE: All three sites; Harrington Clubhouse, Great Brook Valley and Plumley Village

DEPARTMENT: Youth Development Professional

REPORTS TO: Program Director or Site Supervisor


POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Site Coordinator, the Program Assistant is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of youth and implementing fun and engaging academic enrichment and recreational programs.
The Program Assistant will support the work of the Site Coordinator/Program Director and may participate in special programs or events. Under the direction of the Site Coordinator/Program Director, oversee the daily activities of Club members. Light maintenance and upkeep of program areas and the facilities will be required to maintain the cleanliness of the Clubhouse. May be required to lift up to fifty (50 pounds). Participation in other Clubhouse activities may be required, such as supporting our food pantry and free fresh produce giveaways, as necessary. Must have reliable transportation.

TITLE: Lead and Assistant Child Care Staff

JOB TYPE: Part-time

SITE: Harrington Clubhouse

DEPARTMENT: EEC Licensed School Age Child Care

REPORTS TO: Director of School Age Child Care

POSITION SUMMARY: The Lead and Assistant Staff are responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of a broad range of programs for youth between K and age 13. Additional responsibilities include complying with EEC regulations. The Lead and Assistant Staff must also be available to work as scheduled and have reliable transportation. Hours of operation during our fall program are 8 am - 4 pm where we will serve as a learning hub temporarily. Once schools reopen for onsite instruction, we will resume our regular after school program (hours will be 2 pm to 6 pm, excluding school vacation weeks and summer break).

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge

Demonstrated knowledge of principles related to development of youth between Kindergarten and 13 years of age, group leadership skills, and an understanding of group dynamics.

Education & Experience

Must meet one of the following EEC requirements:

a. Have a bachelor’s degree or an associate degree; and have three months of experience working with school-age children; or

b. Have a high school diploma or equivalent; and have six months of experience working with school-age children including three months of supervised experience at a school-age childcare program; or

c. Have nine months of experience with school-age children including three months of supervised experience at a school-age childcare program.
