Worcester, MASSACHUSETTS – The Boys & Girls Club of Worcester continues its free swim instruction for all Club members for Summer 2021. For the past 100 years, the Club has provided free swim instruction to approximately 1000 youth annually. In addition to all Club members receiving free swim instruction, a free lifeguard certification was offered in the spring and will be offered again during the 2021-22 school year.
“A staggering statistic that youth of color are three times more likely to drown due to lack of resources is what drives us to provide free access. Providing free swim instruction to all our members is something that is very important to us. These are lifesaving skills that are imperative for all children to have.” – Liz Hamilton, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Worcester.
The Boys & Girls Club of Worcester serves more than 8,000 kids (ages 5–18) annually at their three Clubhouses located in Main South, Great Brook Valley and Plumley Village. The Club offers award-winning arts programs, sports and games, tutoring and college prep, leadership opportunities, mentors, job readiness and employment, and provides free, nutritious meals to all who attend.
