The Boys & Girls Club of Worcester receives $15,000 Community Impact Grant from Fallon Health

Worcester, Mass., December 13, 2021— The Boys & Girls Club of Worcester, one of the largest youth development agencies in Central Massachusetts, today announced it has been named a recipient of Fallon Health’s Community Impact Grant for 2021. The funds, totaling $15,000 will help support the Food Insecurity Program.

The Food Insecurity Program will support the food pantry, Kid’s Café, hydroponic gardening program and cooking classes through various partnerships.

“Fallon Health consistently supports our Club and specifically food insecurity year after year. We are so grateful and couldn’t do it without the reliable support they provide.” – Liz Hamilton, Executive Director, Boys & Girls Club of Worcester.

“This year Fallon received applications from nearly 110 organizations—up approximately 38 percent from last year, highlighting how the current health care crisis has exacerbated existing social and economic inequities while presenting new challenges,” said Richard Burke, President and CEO of Fallon Health. “We are inspired by the work of the Boys & Girls Club of Worcester is doing in the community, and it is our sincere hope that we are able to help ease some of the financial constraints they are facing when dealing with critical issues of hunger and loneliness among older adults head on.”

In 2021, Fallon Health distributed $110,000 in grants across its service area through its Community Impact Grants Program. As a Massachusetts’ non-profit Health Maintenance Organization (HMO), Fallon is committed to providing support to address unmet health needs and improving the health of disadvantaged populations through its grant program. The organization’s work was recently highlighted in a report by the office of Attorney General Maura Healey.
