The Boys & Girls Club of Worcester is embarking on an exciting journey to create a brand-new facility in Great Brook Valley, one that is kid-driven and youth-focused. As part of this innovative process, we recently partnered with our architects at Bloom Architecture to host a special design focus group with our youth members, ensuring their voices play a crucial role in shaping the new Club.
The focus group provided an interactive and engaging space where our kids participated in both visual and word-based activities to express their ideas, needs, and dreams for the new facility. Through drawings, collages, brainstorming exercises, and guided discussions, our young participants articulated what they envision as the ideal Boys & Girls Club—one that fosters creativity, inclusivity, and fun.
This participatory design approach underscores our commitment to ensuring that the new Club is more than just a building; it is a space that authentically reflects the aspirations and desires of the youth who will call it a Club to Call Home. From vibrant colors to the program areas, the insights gathered from our kids will directly influence the architectural and design choices made in the coming months.
Beyond our youth focus group, we have also conducted separate design discussions with families, staff, and key stakeholders. Each conversation was intentionally structured to capture the unique perspectives and priorities of these different constituent groups. While our young members provide insight into the daily experiences and amenities they wish to see, our families and staff contribute valuable input on functionality, safety, and long-term sustainability. Meanwhile, our stakeholders help to align the vision with community needs and resources.
By engaging in this collaborative and inclusive process, we are ensuring that our new facility will truly be a reflection of the people it serves. The Boys & Girls Club of Worcester has always been a place of growth, support, and opportunity, and with our youth leading the way in the design process, the future of the Club is brighter than ever.
Stay tuned for updates as we continue working with Bloom Architecture and our community to bring this vision to life!
