Jewel White

Year of Induction:
2019

Jewel White is a former Youth of the Year at the Boys & Girls Club of Worcester (the first as we were moving into our Harrington Clubhouse in 2006!) where she was an active participant in our SMARTGirls program. It was during her time in the Club’s girls-only program that she developed her leadership skills and the desire to give back to the community. “The Club made me become the woman I am today,” says Jewel. “I have made life-long friendships and countless memories there. The Boys & Girls Club is family.”

After excelling academically and athletically at Doherty Memorial High School, she graduated in 2008 with a full athletic (basketball) scholarship to Franklin Pierce University. While in college, Jewel scored over 1,000 points, had over 1,000 rebounds, and was named the Northeast 10 player of the Year and Regional Player of the Year.

Jewel’s passion to give back to the community resulted in her decision to major in social work. She received her bachelor’s degree in 2012 and is currently attending Assumption College working towards her Master’s. She works at the School Base Health Center at South High and manages Positive Directions, a drop-out prevention program, which has seen an increase in graduation rates since her involvement. In addition to her work at South High, she is a counselor at Open Sky Community Services.
