Doug Lufftborough

Year of Induction:
2019

Doug’s fondest memories of the Club involve traveling from Tatnuck Square to the Ionic Ave. Clubhouse every Saturday morning and staying all day until close. To Doug, being a Club member meant that his mother always knew he was in a safe place all day. As the son of a single-parent, Doug and his family faced many challenges including homelessness when he was  in high school. However, Doug did not allow any setbacks to get in his way of achieving success, including becoming the first generation college student in his family.

He received his bachelor’s degree in business administration and human resources management from Northeastern University, a master’s degree in education from Harvard University, and a Ph.D. in leadership studies

and educational consulting from the  University of San Diego. Dr. Luff is a professional speaker, leadership consultant, life coach and the author of Watch Me Rise: From Streets of  Despair to the Halls of the Ivy League and the Watch Me Rise Teacher Dialogue Guide. As an advocate for education, Dr. Luff is a former school board president and trustee with the Chula Vista Elementary School District and an Adjunct Professor for the School of  Education at Point Loma Nazarene University in San  Diego.

Currently, Dr. Luff serves as the Southern California Managing Director with MeTEOR Education. Today, he resides in Chula Vista, CA with his wife and their five children.

Among his fondest memories of the Club, Doug says “The Staff always made me feel welcomed and a part of a bigger community of caring”.
