We're celebrating Black History Month by honoring historical figures who helped shape our society. Throughout the month, we recognize individuals who fought for social justice, excelled in their careers, and are role models for us all. Many of our kids cite Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as their hero. One of our Club kids, Lenny (see letter below), honored Dr. King by sharing his own story of standing up for others. Lenny witnessed what many have experienced in their lives: injustice and cruelty. Instead of sitting idly by, Lenny utilized the knowledge he gained from Dr. King and did something to address a bad situation. Dr. King is an example of selflessness, dedication, and empathy; all characteristics we strive for every day. We are lucky to have Club members like Lenny who carry out the invaluable lessons taught by Dr. King.
