The Boys & Girls Club of Worcester is embarking on an exciting new chapter with the launch of its capital campaign, A Club to Call Home, aimed at constructing a brand-new Clubhouse in Great Brook Valley. Liz Hamilton, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Worcester, recently joined Tim Murray on the Chamber Exchange to discuss this transformative initiative.

A Legacy of Impact in Great Brook Valley

Since 1993, the Boys & Girls Club of Worcester has been an integral part of the Great Brook Valley community, operating out of a small facility that was originally built as a fallout shelter. Despite these limitations, the Club has made an immense impact, offering educational and recreational programs, emergency childcare, nutritious meals, case management, and even serving as a learning hub during the pandemic. The need for a larger, purpose-built space has never been more urgent.

With more than 1,000 youth living in Great Brook Valley, the current facility can only accommodate 50 young people per day. This stark disparity underscores the necessity for expansion. As the Worcester Housing Authority embarks on a decade-long plan to construct a new apartment complex, the Boys & Girls Club sees a unique opportunity to build a state-of-the-art clubhouse that will serve as a safe, welcoming, and enriching environment for the Valley’s youth.

A Vision for the Future

The A Club to Call Home campaign represents a bold step forward in ensuring that every child in Great Brook Valley has access to high-quality programming and a space they can truly call their own. The new facility will be designed to meet the evolving needs of the community, providing more room for educational support, recreational activities, and vital social services.

“This is more than just a building,” said Liz Hamilton. “It’s about creating a space where our youth can thrive, build their futures, and feel a true sense of belonging.”
